The coast
I live and work in Orange County, California. Most of these were taken within a few miles of the house — Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, the stretch of Pacific Coast where the water is the first thing you check in the morning. The office view in the pictures is the real one. It is also most of why I built a business that doesn't need me in a room at nine.
Training my way back
I played beach volleyball professionally, on the AVP tour. Then fifteen years of building companies at a desk took their tax, and I've spent the last stretch undoing it — strength, conditioning, thirty years of reading on nutrition finally applied rather than filed. I approach it the way I approach systems: measure, iterate, ship. The sand is a better gym than a gym.
The crew
The father-daughter dance photo is from Saddleback Valley. The dogs turn up in most of the rest. This is the half of the ledger the work is supposed to pay for — and the reason the beach chair test is a real test and not a slogan.
Thursdays, 7:30am, Strands Beach
