Privacy Policy

This site is run by Brian MacDonald from Orange County, California. This page explains what it collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. It is written in plain language on purpose — the short version is that this is a personal site with a newsletter, and it collects very little.
What this site collects
Your email address, only if you give it. Every signup form here does one thing: it adds your email to my newsletter list so I can send new guides as they publish. No name, no company, nothing else is asked for or stored. Each signup is tagged with which page it came from, so I know which writing brings people in.
Anonymous view counts. When you open a guide, the site increments a counter for that guide. It records which article was read — not who read it. There is no identifier attached, and the count is deduplicated per browser session so a refresh does not double-count.
Standard server logs. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps ordinary request logs — IP address, browser, and which page was requested — as every web host does. I do not build profiles from them.
Booking details, if you book. The scheduler on the AI Assessment page is an embedded widget from LeadConnector (GoHighLevel). If you book a session, whatever you type into it — typically name, email and phone — goes to that service directly, under their privacy policy as well as this one.
Analytics
This site uses PostHog to count which pages get read and which buttons get clicked. It records the page you are on and the action you took — not who you are. Nobody logs in here, so no account or profile is ever created for you; the events are anonymous by configuration, not just by promise.
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, it is honoured and nothing is collected at all. PostHog stores an anonymous id in your browser so two page views in one visit are not counted as two strangers; clearing your browser storage removes it.
What this site does not do
There is no advertising network, no retargeting pixel, no session recording, no heatmap, and no data is sold or rented to anyone, ever. Two other small things are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere: whether you chose light or dark mode, and a note that you have already been counted as reading a given guide. Clearing your browser storage removes them.
Who else receives it
Only the services needed to run the site, and only the data each one needs to do its job: Resend holds the newsletter list and sends the email; Vercel hosts the site; Sanity stores the articles and the view counts; and LeadConnector / GoHighLevel runs the booking scheduler; and PostHog counts the anonymous page views and clicks described above.
How long it is kept
Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it, at which point it is deleted. View counts are aggregate numbers with nothing personal in them and are kept indefinitely. Host logs follow Vercel's own retention.
Your choices
Every email I send has a one-click unsubscribe, and it works immediately. You can also email me at brian@brian-macdonald.com and ask what I hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask me to delete it — and I will, without asking why. If you are in California, the EU or the UK you have those rights by law; I would do it anyway.
Children
This site is for people running businesses. It is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. I will not quietly start collecting something this page says I do not.
